WEAVING A FUTURE FOR ESKDALE

Weaving a Future for Eskdale aims to revitalise and regenerate the textile heritage of which Langholm is justifiably proud.

The days of multiple large mills may have passed, but the present is full of exciting opportunities to create a new future in textiles. New small enterprises are emerging with high quality artisan products.

There is a huge revival of interest in hand made, ethically sourced products and we have the skills and the passion here to embrace that trend.

Activities like sewing, knitting, weaving, embroidery, crochet and quilting are good for the soul. There is a re-emerging spirit of Make Do and Mend, re-use, recycle and upcycle.

This one-year project offers multiple opportunities for people of all ages. Whether for relaxation, fun, employment or enterprise – let’s get involved and Weave a Future for Eskdale!
